Hospital clowns

A red nose, a little play, some gentleness: sometimes that is exactly what a child in hospital needs, and their loved ones too.

The idea

“Hospital clowns” is an initiative centred on comfort, play, smiles and a reassuring presence for children. It is the first project ADBL presents.

Where we stand

The project is at its very beginning. No visit has taken place yet and no institution is a partner yet. We prefer to say so plainly rather than promise what does not exist yet.

How we work

Organizations already make children laugh in Québec hospitals. Rather than start from scratch, we first want to meet them, learn from them and, as far as possible, support or relay their work.

Any activity in an institution will take place with its agreement, respecting its safety and hygiene rules, and with trained people.

How to help

  • Do you work in a health institution, a school or an organization of therapeutic artists? Write to us.
  • Do you have training as a clown, in working with children or in health? Write to us.
  • Share this page around you.
  • Follow the journal or the newsletter to know when the project moves forward.

Our commitment to children

Protecting children comes before everything, including our own visibility.

  • No recognizable image of a child is published without the written authorization of their parents (or guardians) and the child’s own agreement.
  • A child or their parents can withdraw their agreement at any time: the image is then removed.
  • Never a full name, a school, an address or a schedule.
  • We show happiness, never misery: no child is presented as unhappy to move the viewer.
  • No video showing children is monetized.
